Q&A Section
Q1: How are you creative in your career?
Andrea: “This business career is very demanding in terms of creativity. As we know, the success of companies today is measured by technology and innovation, so the knowledge I must possess to provide consultancy needs to be constantly updated and detailed. In recent years, I have endeavored to incorporate and propose topics of business interest in my work area, while simultaneously suggesting new and innovative practices. In my consultancy role, I strive to offer new ideas on these topics and challenge business owners to focus less on their daily concerns and more on their future by implementing effective marketing and strategy.”
Q2: What’s your favorite project you’ve ever worked on?
Andrea: “Being part of the MISE project (Integral Business Services Model) of my Chamber of Commerce: This has been a means of my professional development as a consultant. I have been able to work closely with companies that, over time and thanks to my advice and support, have consolidated in their markets, increased their sales, and expanded their teams by putting into practice the knowledge I have shared, while also organizing themselves internally. Organizing trade fairs for entrepreneurs is gratifying, as it provides them with a sales space where they can showcase their products and services. Many of them do not yet have a physical space to exhibit their business. These events, where they often begin their business ideas, allow them to learn a lot, and I can share sales and customer service techniques. It’s very rewarding to see how much they value this knowledge.”
Q3: If you had to give one piece of advice to other creatives looking to start a career in your field, what would you say?
Andrea: “International Relations: I am one of many examples where I am not directly practicing what I studied in my undergraduate degree. It’s a very beautiful field, although the reality is that in Honduras, the job market is not very broad. It’s a career that can be fulfilled in the long term by becoming a professional with extensive work experience and aspiring to the diplomatic academy as a diplomat, working for an NGO, or getting involved in politics (which I personally do not support, as the example of our governments generally have a very bad reputation, affecting one’s personal reputation as well).
Business Management: Due to the strong demand for new businesses resulting from the pandemic, the topic of business consultancy has seen significant growth, particularly in legal and tax matters. Therefore, studying these business-related fields is highly recommended and feasible.”
Q4: Do you have a highlighted project you’d like to share or something you’ve created recently that you are proud of?
Andrea: “Yes, and it’s something I’ve recently started: engaging more with my community through volunteer activities. Through MWCA, I have learned the importance of giving back my knowledge and time to activities that support the environment and social causes. I am about to take action by researching other initiatives in my community and providing unconditional support. These moments fill my heart, and I am confident that even making a small impact on others’ lives is the best gift I can give.”
